Good Morning! 💧 🌅 This is your joyful reminder to drink water! The Naturopathic recommendation is to drink between 1.5 and 2 litres of fluid a day. As water passes quickly through the body because it contains few electrolytes - adding a small quantity of fruit juice or slices of fruit to water (such as citrus fruits, cucumber, apple or watermelon) can be more thirst quenching. Also, coffee, tea, herbal drinks and juice all contribute to your fluid intake! Aim to have no more than x3 cups of a caffienated drink per day.
For those managing blood sugar such as those on a weight loss journey, dilute fruit juice to water, 25% juice to 75% water.
Hey there Angel! 🌟 Let's talk about electrolytes and why
they're so important for your body.
Electrolytes are certain minerals (calcium, chloride, magnesium, potassium and soodium ions) that carry an electric charge and are crucial for various bodily functions such as nerve cell health which is needed for balanced mental and physical function. They are important for hydration as they help maintain optiumal fluid balance within cells. You can get these minerals from both food and drinks.
Drink plenty of fluids: Water is essential, but low sugar sports drinks and part juice, part water can also help replenish electrolytes, especially after intense exercise.
Eat a balanced diet: Include a variety of fruits and vegetables, such as bananas, oranges, and spinach, which are rich in potassium. Dairy products like milk and cheese and leafy greens provide calcium, while leafy greens, nuts and seeds offer magnesium.
A simple way to boost your electrolytes is to make a homemade electrolyte drink. Mix water, a pinch of sea salt and a squeeze of lemon.
